Break a movie down frame by frame and get a story timeline

This tool turns a movie into an editable shot-by-shot study notebook: AI helps you map story lines, scene structure, and audience engagement — everything stays on your own computer.

The app slices a movie into frames, adds subtitles to them, and packs everything into a file for an AI chatbot. The AI analyzes it and sends back story lines, a scene structure tree, and an audience-engagement curve.

When it helps

Useful if you want to systematically study a film's story and editing for study, screenwriting, or your own projects. Skip it if you just want to watch a movie.

Pros

  • Runs on your computer — nothing gets uploaded anywhere
  • Works with any AI chatbot, no separate API key needed
  • No coding required — launches in two clicks
  • Lets you dig deeper into any single scene separately

Cons

  • A movie yields thousands of frames; free AI tiers may only skim them
  • Auto subtitle search pulls from public sites — personal use only

How to set it up — step by step

  1. 1Open the repository's Releases page on GitHub and download the zip from the Assets section.
  2. 2Unzip the downloaded file into its own folder.
  3. 3Double-click run.bat on Windows or run.command on Mac, then wait for the first-run setup.
  4. 4In the browser window that opens, import your movie file — frames and subtitles are prepared automatically.
  5. 5Hand the resulting package to your AI chatbot and upload it there.
  6. 6Import the AI's reply back into the app to see the timeline, scene tree, and engagement curve.
