Floorplan: an AI-drawn map of how your app fits together

Floorplan is a plugin for Claude Code and Codex that reads your app's code and draws an interactive map of it in plain English. Once installed, you can see how every part connects without reading the code yourself.

It's a plugin for your AI coding agent that turns your codebase into a clickable map, naming each part in plain words instead of technical jargon.

When it helps

Useful if you build your app with an AI agent and never read the code — you want to understand what you actually built and catch common security mistakes fast. Skip it if you need to fix the code itself or draw a polished diagram for a talk.

Pros

  • Names every part in plain English, not technical jargon
  • Health check catches secrets left in code and open database tables
  • Runs on your existing Claude Code or Codex plan, no extra keys
  • Answers questions about the code by actually checking it, not guessing

Cons

  • Only shows problems and a fix — doesn't change the code itself
  • Runs through a terminal agent, not a browser chat app

How to set it up — step by step

  1. 1Open Claude Code in your app's folder (you need Node.js 18+).
  2. 2Run claude plugin marketplace add haydenschmitty/floorplan, then claude plugin install floorplan@floorplan.
  3. 3Start a new agent session.
  4. 4Send the agent the text from the block below.
  5. 5Open the map that appears in your browser and ask it a question about your app.
  6. 6If the health check finds issues, ask the agent to fix them using the ready-made fix.

Text for your agent

Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:

Install the Floorplan plugin from https://github.com/haydenschmitty/floorplan — using marketplace add and install as described in the README — then ask it to make a floorplan of this app and show me what it comes up with.

Runs on a regular laptop — just needs Node.js and an existing Claude Code or Codex install, no extra API keys.
