AI Agent Builds Your Short Video: From Idea to Editable Project
This is a skill — a ready-made instruction set you hand to an AI agent like Claude Code or Codex so it carries a short video all the way from topic to a project you can open in a video editor. You end up with a near-finished clip, not just a script.
A skill is a packaged instruction set for an AI agent. The agent writes the script, turns it into voiceover, draws pictures for each scene, and assembles it all into a video-editing project.
When it helps
Useful if you make short historical or biographical videos for a Chinese-speaking audience in Chinese. Not useful for English or Russian videos — the built-in scripts and styles are Chinese-only.
Pros
- Does everything in one pass: script, voice, images, editable project
- Installs the tools it needs itself — nothing to set up manually
- Speech recognition runs on your own computer for free
- Keeps the character's face and clothes consistent across scenes
Cons
- Scripts, styles, and audience are Chinese-only, not English/Russian
- Voice without your own recording needs a paid ByteDance service
- Final project needs the CapCut video editor installed
How to set it up — step by step
- 1Open your AI agent (Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor) in your project folder.
- 2Send the agent the text from the block below to install the skill and run a first script.
- 3If the agent asks for a Doubao voice key, decide: pay for voice or record your own and hand over the mp3 file.
- 4Review the script and storyboard the agent shows you.
- 5Open the finished project in CapCut and polish the video.
Text for your agent
Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:
Set up the Story Studio skill from https://github.com/konlu/story-studio — clone it into my agent's skills folder following the README, write a short script for one historical topic, ask me for the Doubao voice API key if you need it, and show me the resulting script and storyboard.
Runs on a regular laptop — no GPU needed; it installs Python, Node.js and FFmpeg by itself. But to get a finished video you need the CapCut editor installed, plus either a paid Chinese voice key or your own recorded voice.
