Chat On Steroids is a Windows, macOS and Linux desktop application to transform ChatGPT into a working agent, able to access your local files, execute commands on terminal and (on Windows) manage your screen, mouse and clipboard. The app hosts a local MCP server and connects ChatGPT to your machine using OpenAI’s Secure MCP Tunnel. You interact with ChatGPT as usual in the browser but now with this app running in the system tray as a permission management layer. You can specify which directories you want to give access to, allow or disallow commands and enable/disable capabilities. The app comes with a built-in Chrome extension to record sessions, implement Compact & Resume and leverage an experimental multi-agent goal loop (OpenRouter).
Why a vibe-coder should care
This is a convenient way to deploy MCP for ChatGPT without the hassle of implementing the server by yourself. In order to achieve full read/write access to your files and being able to execute commands you will need a ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu account with Developer mode on. If you have a Pro account you will still be able to access files (read only).
