Agent Skill to Eliminate Unnecessary Complexity in Your Codebase
A skill for Codex/Claude Code to identify and safely eliminate accidental complexity from code bases (dead abstractions, duplicated states, out-dated compatibility concerns…) without compromising essential behaviors. Main readme (Chinese), English readme (README.en.md).
A skill for Codex/Claude Code to identify and safely eliminate accidental complexity from code bases. Deleting lines of code is just an effect, but the real value is eliminating facts/states/contracts/concepts that don’t need to be maintained any more. This skill will generate a proof report before deleting anything (how much maintenance cost it introduces, which consumers (e.g. production/test/dynamic/external) will be affected, what behaviors will be lost, and the simplest test case to detect incorrect deletions). There are 2 working modes: Survey (read-only analysis of potential candidates with ranked evidence) and Change (apply verified simplification changes with batch-level verification). This skill respects public interfaces/dynamic imports/data formats/migrations/architecture rules as important evidences. If there’s an actual consumer or boundary to resolve, this skill suggests keeping things instead of blindly deleting them. Main readme (Chinese), English readme (README.en.md).
Why a vibe-coder should care
When developing using AI agents, your code base will have more dead codes, duplicated states, and half-implemented features than manual development. With this skill, your agent can clean up your code bases in a safe and methodical manner, while generating proof reports and allowing you to roll back in case of mistakes.
How to install
Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:
Install the simplify-codebase skill from https://github.com/tt-a1i/simplify-codebase into Codex at user scope, then run a broad survey of this repository: list simplification candidates with proof records, no file changes.
