Codex Plugin — Convert Images into Three.js 3D Code

An OpenAI Codex plugin that generates animated procedural Three.js code from an image of any object, without needing to manually model it in 3D.

The Codex plugin takes an image of an object and outputs a procedural Three.js TypeScript code based on an AI driven sculpting workflow that includes validating the image, measuring its complexity, and going through five stages of iterative refinement from blockout to materials. The AI vision system ensures that each iteration retains key elements of the source image or it’s discarded. This plugin was released a week ago and already has 436 stars!

Why a vibe-coder should care

If you’re looking to create a 3D scene in the browser but don’t have time to manually create a prop using tools like Blender, simply take a picture of what you want and receive some working Three.js code! This is code, not a mesh, so it can be easily edited, version controlled, and animated right away!
