Watch your Claude Code, Cursor and Codex usage limits on screen
Codenotch is a small panel pinned to your screen edge that shows how much usage limit each of your AI agents has left, and flashes when an agent needs your input.
A panel with a ring for each agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and others) showing how much of its usage limit is left.
When it helps
Useful if you run several agents at once and don't want them cut off mid-task by a limit. If you only run one agent and already check manually, typing /usage is simpler.
Pros
- No extra sign-in — reads data from tools already logged in
- Shows all agents and accounts in one place
- Flashes when an agent is waiting on you
Cons
- Agent-driven install builds only the Mac version from source
- Needs a Mac with Xcode; Windows has a separate installer
How to set it up — step by step
- 1Open your AI agent in your project folder on a Mac with Xcode installed.
- 2Send the agent the text from the block below — it will fetch and build Codenotch.
- 3Check that the app launched and rings appeared at the edge of your screen.
- 4If the agent asks for a Developer ID or other keys, answer it yourself.
- 5On Windows, skip this method and download the separate Codenotch installer instead.
Text for your agent
Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:
Deploy Codenotch from https://github.com/vinzdg/codenotch — install dependencies (brew install xcodegen), build and run with make run as in the README. Show me that the app launched and the rings are visible on the screen edge. Ask me if you need a Developer ID or any other credentials.
macOS only — a Mac with Xcode installed required for building (brew install xcodegen, make run).
