Hydrogen-1.0: a science AI for chemistry, not for coding
Hydrogen-1.0 is a model for scientific work and study: it explains formula derivations, checks assumptions, and gives hints on problems, especially in chemistry. It's not meant for everyday coding.
It's an AI model fine-tuned on scientific texts — not code or chat — specifically for research and education in science.
When it helps
Useful if you're deep into chemistry and want to quickly check an idea or derive a formula. Not useful for everyday vibe-coding tasks — it can't write code.
Pros
- Accepts up to 1M tokens — fits a whole paper or experiment protocol
- Explains formula derivations and hints at solving scientific problems
- Specialized for chemistry and related scientific fields
Cons
- Needs a server with 8 GPUs — won't run on a regular computer
- Check results by hand — don't trust them blindly
- Not for anything related to health or safety
How to set it up — step by step
- 1Open the model page at https://huggingface.co/deep-principle/Hydrogen-1.0 and read the card
- 2Send your agent the text from the block below — have it figure out what scientific tasks the model handles and its limits
- 3Check whether you have access to a server with 8 GPUs and the SGLang tool — without that, you can't run the model
- 4If you don't have your own server, try the model's interface right on the Hugging Face page instead of deploying it yourself
- 5Before trusting an answer, double-check the formula derivation or assumption by hand — especially for health or safety questions
Text for your agent
Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:
Check out the Hydrogen-1.0 model card here: https://huggingface.co/deep-principle/Hydrogen-1.0 — tell me what kind of science questions it is meant for and what limits the authors themselves admit to.
A server-grade model, not something to run at home. The authors themselves tested it on eight GPUs through SGLang.
