Agent37 Launches Cheap Sandboxes for AI Agents, Undercutting AWS

A YC startup launched sandboxes for running agents on Hetzner and OVH, and the setup comes out several times cheaper than AWS and Cloudflare.

Agent37, a startup out of Y Combinator (YC) — the accelerator program that funds and advises early-stage startups — has launched cheap sandboxes, which are isolated environments for running AI agents, including Claude Code. The company keeps its servers on Hetzner and OVH. These are hosting providers that rent out servers as a cheaper alternative to Amazon Web Services (AWS), not AWS itself. A sandbox with 2 CPU cores and 4 GB of memory costs $4.94 a month. A similar setup on AWS costs $24.50 a month. The company says its sandboxes are 30 times cheaper than Cloudflare's, the cloud platform that also offers sandboxes for running agents. It adds that a paying customer spends an average of just $0.37 a month per sandbox.

The savings here apply to the infrastructure around the agent: the server, disk, and memory it runs on. For everyday work with Opus or Fable in the Claude Code terminal, this changes nothing. There you pay for the model's tokens, not for the server underneath it. But if you run dozens of agent sessions in parallel, the infrastructure bill adds up fast. At that scale, the gap between $4.94 and $24.50 a month per sandbox turns into real money.
