Anthropic Launches Claude Duet, a Personal Agent
Anthropic has launched Claude Duet, a personal agent that rivals Meta Muse and OpenAI Dots. It builds its own daily task briefing and takes on routine work.
Anthropic, the company behind Claude, launched a personal agent called Claude Duet on October 21. It puts together a morning brief of tasks pulled from a user's connected apps and flags anything that needs attention. It can also take on bigger jobs: scheduling meetings, building dashboards, drafting financial or sales forecasts, and prototyping and building web apps. It runs on its own virtual machine, so you do not need to keep a Claude session open. Access is limited for now to a waitlist for Claude subscribers in the US. Once Duet opens up to everyone, it will be included in the $20-per-month Pro plan. That is cheaper than OpenAI's comparable agent, Dots, which starts at $100 a month. OpenAI is the company behind ChatGPT.
For everyday admin work, scheduling, forecasts, drafts, dashboards, this looks like a sensible tool. Writing code is a different job, and Duet was not built for that. It handles planning and paperwork, not code. The real question here is trust, not price. This is an early preview, and letting an agent run your calendar or financial forecasts unsupervised is exactly the kind of thing agents still tend to get wrong. Anthropic says it is still tuning when Duet should message the user and when it should stay quiet. That is an honest admission. But it is a promise for later, not a finished result.
