Claude Leads 26% of Anthropic's Own AI Research

Anthropic released some information. Claude is involved in 26% of the AI research done at Anthropic. This doesn’t mean that Claude is doing 26% of the work — instead, Claude is able to finish most of a task independently, given a general description from a human. More than 90% of the time, Claude performs “large chunks” of research under close supervision. Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, suggested using this metric as a benchmark for the field.

This 26% stat is pretty conservative. It’s important to note that these are all supervised tasks — Claude isn’t working alone here. The really exciting part is the 90% statistic. Not only is Claude performing “large chunks” of research (meaning that it’s being used as a primary agent), but it’s also being used for more than just assistance.
