DeepMind Uncovers 9 Billion Variations Of The Human Genome
AlphaGenome Atlas is a 1 petabyte database of AI predictions on 9 billion mutations to the human genome, including 98% of its non-coding regions.
AlphaGenome Atlas is a 1 petabyte database of predictions on 9 billion mutations to the human genome, 30 times bigger than the AlphaFold database. It covers 98% of the non-coding genome, the location of most inherited disorders. Using UK Biobank data, it discovered 22% more genetic links to disease compared to existing techniques.
A database of AI predictions on every possible mutation will accelerate the study of rare diseases. Instead of taking years to confirm experimentally, scientists can check their findings instantly by querying the database. By making this resource available through an API and a website, AlphaGenome Atlas becomes a universal tool for anyone working in genetics, from diagnosis to drug discovery.
