Conversations aren't stored on Mozilla's servers by default — Mistral has committed to zero data retention. Rolling out in France and North America first, with the UK and Germany to follow later in 2026.

As a vibe coder, I'm watching this closely: Firefox has hundreds of millions of users, and this is the first real in-browser AI assistant with genuine privacy guarantees. Mistral is a solid European model, but I wouldn't swap out my main tools for serious agent work — that said, for "read this page and explain it" tasks, it's a perfectly capable option.
