Firefox Smart Window: AI in Your Browser, Without Keeping Any Data
Firefox Smart Window (beta) is an AI-powered research assistant that lives inside your web browser. It can help answer questions and remember websites, without keeping any records of your conversations.
The Firefox Smart Window (beta) is a new Mistral-based in-browser AI research assistant that helps you explore difficult questions, keep track of websites and find references. By default, it doesn’t store any information about your conversations on Mozilla servers. Currently available in France and North America. Also coming soon to the UK and Germany in 2026.
Firefox is used by hundreds of millions of people. This is the first in-browser AI assistant with proper privacy protections. While Mistral is a good European model, I wouldn’t replace my primary agents with it. But for “tell me what’s on this website” type jobs, it works fine.
