Humanoid Robot Output Grew 10x in 2025 — and Is Still Stuck in the Lab

Humanoid robot production topped 20,000 units in 2025 — more than ten times the previous year's output. Only about 10% of those robots are actually deployed in working environments; the rest are tied up in research programs and pilots. Chinese companies account for over 90% of global output, with Unitree and Agibot together holding more than half the market.

Production numbers take off before the use cases are ready to scale. Analysts don't expect a commercial inflection point before 2032 — much the same way language models spent years as impressive demos before becoming practical tools. For now, humanoids are mostly busy collecting data to train themselves.
