Microsoft and Mistral Are Building Europe's AI Infrastructure for Billions
Microsoft and Mistral AI have signed a multi-billion-dollar deal to build AI infrastructure across Europe, featuring thousands of Nvidia Vera Rubin GPUs and a strong focus on data sovereignty.
Microsoft and Mistral AI have signed a multi-billion-dollar deal to jointly build AI infrastructure across Europe. The project involves thousands of Nvidia Vera Rubin GPUs, with €1.2 billion already invested in Swedish data centers. Mistral's revenue has grown 20x year over year to $400 million and continues to climb.
The deal is explicitly aimed at data sovereignty: European banks, hospitals, and manufacturers will gain access to powerful AI models without their data ever leaving the region. This is the first real alternative AI stack for Europe — one that depends neither on AWS nor on Google Cloud.
