Monday.com Lays Off 630 — One in Five — to Pivot to AI Work Platform
Monday.com is cutting 20% of its workforce — 630 people — and pivoting to an AI Work Platform where AI agents handle report generation, dashboard updates, and workflow automation.
Monday.com — a team task management service — has laid off 630 employees, or one in five. The company is restructuring around an AI Work Platform where AI agents (programs that execute tasks autonomously) update dashboards, generate reports, and automate workflows on their own. The cost of the restructuring is $45–55M.
78% of companies that announced layoffs in 2026 cited the shift to AI as the reason — more than 122,000 jobs have been cut in the tech sector in the first half of the year alone. This isn't a temporary crisis at a handful of companies; it's a structural shift in which roles are no longer needed.
