OpenAI to Spend $750B on Infrastructure by 2030
OpenAI will spend $750B on infrastructure by 2030 — 25% more than previously planned. A single data center in Georgia spans 1,400 acres and requires 3.2 gigawatts of power.
OpenAI will spend $750B on computing infrastructure by 2030 — 25% more than it announced in early 2026. The 'Project Camellia' data center in Georgia alone will span 1,400 acres and require 3.2 gigawatts of electricity — a third of all new capacity Georgia Power has approved for the entire state.
Scale like this transforms the AI race from a software competition into an industrial one: the sum is comparable to Sweden's GDP, and the primary power source will be 5.8 gigawatts of gas turbines. Data centers are becoming the new heavy industry — with their own energy supply, land, and infrastructure.
