Sweden Blocks ChatGPT and Claude on Government Computers
Sweden's Regeringskansliet cut off employee access to ChatGPT and Claude on work computers over an information-security risk, leaving Copilot in place.
The Swedish government office, Regeringskansliet, has blocked ChatGPT and Claude on employee computers. It cited a risk to information security from unverified services. Instead, it allowed Microsoft Copilot, a rival AI assistant built into Microsoft's Office and Windows. For some employees, the office also rolled out its own internal platform. That platform still runs through Claude and ChatGPT behind the scenes. Sweden's tax agency, Skatteverket, and its institutional care agency, Statens institutionsstyrelse, have brought in the same restrictions.
This is not a ban on AI as such. The office did not drop Claude and ChatGPT completely. It built a controlled channel so some employees can keep using them. The real problem is where work data goes when someone types it into an external chat with no contract and no logging. For any company, this is a question of access. It gets solved with a vetted channel, like the one built here around Copilot, not with a blanket ban on AI tools.
