XDOF raises $1.2B at a $1.2B valuation 3 months after coming out of stealth
XDOF came out of stealth mode only three months ago. It is currently negotiating a Series B round at a $1.2 billion valuation, has $50 million in annualized revenue, and more than 20 customers, many of them leading frontier AI research groups.
Founded in 2024 by UC Berkeley researchers Philip Wu and Fred Shentu, XDOF exited stealth in June 2026 and became an instant sensation in VC circles. They build a platform for gathering physical robot training data via teleoperation (where a human controls a robotic arm, with each motion recorded as an example for AI).
Three Months Out of Stealth — and a $1.2B Valuation
XDOF, which recently exited stealth mode, is currently in discussions to raise its Series B round at a $1.2 billion valuation, led by 8VC. To put this into perspective, its Series A round in June 2026 brought in $70 million (Thrive Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Lux Capital, Spark Capital). The company has already generated $50 million in annual revenue and serves over 20 clients, including top global frontier AI research groups.
Teleoperation as Robotics Infrastructure
The next wave of robots must learn from real-life examples of interacting with the physical world. Because synthetic data lacks the subtleties of physical movements, teleoperation is an essential “fuel” for general-purpose robots. Together with our clients, we’re developing Project ABC, one of the world’s largest open teleoperation datasets. The companies that collect the most high-quality real-world data today will define the future of robotics.
