OpenWorker: An Open-Source AI Desktop Assistant

An open-source desktop AI agent that gets things done (e.g. writes documents, responds to slack messages with @OpenWorker, updates calendars, etc.) instead of just giving advice (“what should I do next?”)

OpenWorker is an open source AI agent developed by Andrew Ng, founder of DeepLearning.AI and Co-Founder of Coursera. Instead of being a chatbot, it performs actions such as writing documents, replying on slack when mentioned (@OpenWorker), updating calendars, filtering emails, and more. It integrates with over 25 different tools like GitHub, Jira, Notion, Gmail, Google Calendar, and more. It uses MCP to communicate with any accessible tool. When performing any important action like sending messages or changing events, it will prompt for confirmation.

Why a vibe-coder should care

This is the perfect AI assistant for those who want an AI to get stuff done instead of just giving advice about what to do next. All actions performed in the real world require user confirmation, and the model is owned by you (you can use your own OpenAI/Anthropic/Google/DeepSeek/Grok API keys, or run completely offline using Ollama). No data is stored outside of your computer.
