MiniMax H3 for Mac — native inference engine developed by Redis creator

Redis creator Salvatore Sanfilippo (antirez) has implemented a native C inference engine for MiniMax H3, a 33B parameter video synthesis model developed by Chinese startup MiniMax, allowing the model to run completely on-device on Apple Silicon without any cloud API calls.

h3-metal is a native C inference engine for Apple Silicon that allows you to run MiniMax H3, a 33 billion parameter video synthesis model developed by Chinese AI company MiniMax, completely on-device using Apple’s Metal GPU framework. Developed by Salvatore Sanfilippo (creator of Redis), h3-metal allows you to generate videos from text, conditionally generate the first/last frame, and reference-based video synthesis, without having to make any cloud API calls.

Why a vibe-coder should care

Local inference of a powerful video synthesis model enables AI app developers to avoid paying any per-call cloud fees and keeps user data off the cloud. It also demonstrates that state-of-the-art multimodal models can be efficiently deployed on Apple Silicon, paving the way for fully offline AI video applications.
