Give your Codex app a custom look without changing it

Codex Dream Skin sets your own background and colors on the Codex coding assistant — after install, it looks different but still works the same.

01Fei-Away/Codex-Dream-Skin 5.3kPowerShell

A tool that swaps the background and colors of the Codex desktop app through a local technical connection, without touching Codex's own files.

When it helps

Useful if you already use Codex and stare at it for hours. Skip it if you don't have Codex installed or just want the stock look.

Pros

  • Fully reversible — restore the original look in one click
  • Interface stays real and clickable, not a flat picture
  • Ready-made themes install with one click from the authors' site
  • Doesn't touch Codex's own files or code signature

Cons

  • The local connection has no password, so other apps could reach it
  • Risk ends only after a full restore or Codex restart

How to set it up — step by step

  1. 1Close the official Codex app if it's currently open.
  2. 2Download the .dmg (Mac) or Setup.exe (Windows) file from https://github.com/Fei-Away/Codex-Dream-Skin/releases.
  3. 3Run the installer and follow the on-screen steps — no coding required.
  4. 4Open Codex and check the sidebar, cards, and input box still work, just with a new background.
  5. 5To change the picture, open the menu bar (Mac) or tray (Windows) icon and pick a background change or theme import.
  6. 6To restore the original look and close the security gap, choose restore or fully restart Codex.
