Open-source fraud protection your coding agent tunes for you

Kairos is an open-source service that decides in real time whether to approve, challenge, review or block every sign-up, payment or login in your product. Connect your coding agent to it, and the agent builds and trains the decision model on your own data.

A service that checks every user action — login, payment, sign-up — and immediately decides: let it through, ask for extra verification, send it to a human for review, or block it.

When it helps

Useful if your product takes payments, sign-ups or payouts and you don't have a dedicated fraud specialist. Skip it if you have no such events or can't pay for the Grayson key.

Pros

  • Deploys with one Docker Compose command, no GPU needed
  • Your coding agent builds and trains the decision model itself
  • Open-source alternative to paid Sardine, Sift, Riskified, SEON
  • Catches fraud via Grayson before you have your own data

Cons

  • Without a paid Grayson key, some features won't work fully
  • Not fully local — part of it depends on Finic's service

How to set it up — step by step

  1. 1Open the repo at https://github.com/finic-ai/kairos and clone it to your machine.
  2. 2Request a Grayson key from Finic at portal.finic.ai — some features need it.
  3. 3Deploy Kairos with Docker Compose, following the README instructions.
  4. 4Connect the Kairos MCP server to your coding agent — Claude Code, Cursor or Codex.
  5. 5Send the agent the text from the block below so it builds and tests a decision workflow.
  6. 6Check the result — see how the agent handled the test event and why.

Text for your agent

Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:

Deploy Kairos from https://github.com/finic-ai/kairos — bring it up with Docker Compose per the README (you'll need your own Grayson API key from portal.finic.ai, ask me for it), connect the MCP server to Claude Code or Cursor, and ask the agent to build a test decision workflow for one event, then show me what it came up with.

This is a self-hosted service deployed with Docker Compose — its own PostgreSQL database comes up with it, no GPU needed. But without a Grayson API key from Finic (paid, issued at portal.finic.ai) part of it will not work.
