Hypit: One-click replication of all virally popular videos using AI agents
An open-source framework enabling AI agents to author videos using a language. Insert a viral video, and let your AI agent clone its workflow, including the media, captions, and B-roll.
Hypit is an open-source standalone project developed by the hypit-ai team that enables AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex to author videos using a language. At the heart of this is the main format that allows all the components (media, captions, B-roll, and effects) to be associated with words rather than time, allowing an AI agent to modify the structure of the video as if it were code. By providing a viral video as input, the AI agent will analyze it and generate a workflow that can be cloned. Then you can iterate on it to get variations (e.g., with another narrator, another subject, different characters, etc.) or even generate a completely new video in the same format. This pipeline may optionally invoke various APIs to generate content (see the examples in the README), such as the Seedance video models, the GPT Image 2 from OpenAI, and the Google Video Intelligence API for caption face tracking. The framework is free to use, but you will have to pay for the underlying models you wish to use. In the examples of the README, the author generated a 20s video using Seedance and GPT Image models at a cost of $1.15. The project uses the DeepSeek Chat Completions API via automated GitHub issue processing to automate triaging of contributors issues (this does not fall under the video pipeline).
Why a vibe-coder should care
When crafting a short video manually, or using AI to do so, you have to deal with a timeline editor, timings, and manual placement of captions. With Hypit, you can let an agent take care of the structure for you and generate various iterations from a single reference video without having to use a video editor.
How to install
Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:
Install Hypit from https://github.com/hypit-ai/hypit — follow the README, connect a model service (or ask me which API to use), pick one of the examples from the examples/ folder and produce a viral video, ask me if you need API keys.
Any laptop — installs via npm, heavy generation calls go to cloud models (you can also compile without them for montage-only videos)
