Teach your coding agent to write idiomatic Rust, not Python syntax

Beautiful Rust is three ready-made skills and a linter config that teach a coding agent to write, review, and port idiomatic Rust. Install it, and the agent stops writing Rust like Python with different syntax.

It's a set of instructions (skills) for a coding agent plus a config for clippy — Rust's linter — that push the agent toward Rust best practices.

When it helps

Useful if you write or review a Rust project through a coding agent (Claude Code, Codex, etc.). Skip it if you don't write Rust — it only works with this one language.

Pros

  • Raises agent accuracy on Rust tasks from 85% to 94%
  • Kicks in automatically whenever the agent edits Rust code
  • Ports tests first when converting code, so behavior stays the same
  • Code reviews cite the exact file, line, and rule broken

Cons

  • Tested on only 8 tasks — results may not generalize
  • Works only with Rust, useless for any other language

How to set it up — step by step

  1. 1Open your coding agent (Claude Code, Codex, etc.) inside your Rust project folder
  2. 2Send the agent the text from the block below
  3. 3Wait for install — the skill attaches itself next time Rust code gets edited
  4. 4Give the agent a normal Rust task and compare the result to what it wrote before
  5. 5Check the code-review report: every finding should name a file, a line, and a rule

Text for your agent

Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:

Install the Beautiful Rust skill from https://github.com/morganlinton/BeautifulRust - via the Claude Code plugin (/plugin marketplace add morganlinton/BeautifulRust, then /plugin install beautiful-rust@beautiful-rust) or manually per the README for your agent, use it on your next Rust task, and show me what changed in the suggested code.

Runs on a regular laptop - it is just a set of instructions for the agent (a skill) plus a clippy config, no separate program or GPU needed.
