Numbat: visibility into what your AI agent does
Perplexity AI’s open source Go tool Numbat keeps a full record of what your AI coding agents are doing on your computer (files they open, shell commands they run, network services they connect to), and has the option to block unsafe actions as they happen.
Numbat is an open source tool for monitoring and securing AI agents from Perplexity AI. Numbat listens for events from local AI coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, and OpenClaw and records a standardized event trace of all their actions (files opened, shell commands run, network services connected to). It can evaluate detection rules using CEL expressions and decide to block or report on suspicious multi-step action sequences. It also does this when re-playing past sessions from a stored artifact.
Why a vibe-coder should care
If you run your AI coding agent for extended periods without supervision, you may not know what files it accessed on your system. Numbat provides you with a timeline of its actions, and flags any behavior matching a known unsafe pattern, so you can either approve or inspect the results.
