Get your AI coding agent to build Remotion videos right

A set of instructions for AI agents like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor that teaches them to work correctly in Remotion, a tool that builds videos from code. Once installed, your agent follows proven rules instead of guessing.

01remotion-dev/skills 4.9kTypeScript

A package of ready-made instructions (skills) that an AI agent reads before tackling a task in Remotion, a tool that assembles videos from code instead of a video editor.

When it helps

Useful if you build videos in Remotion through an AI agent: new projects, layout, rendering, or maps with animated routes. No use if you don't work with Remotion.

Pros

  • Agent follows proven rules instead of guessing
  • Separate skills for project setup, layout, rendering, and maps
  • Can be added right when you create a new project
  • One command updates both the skills and Remotion itself

Cons

  • Only works inside Remotion projects
  • Needs an AI agent that supports skills

How to set it up — step by step

  1. 1Open a terminal in your Remotion project folder (or create one with bun create video).
  2. 2Run npx skills add remotion-dev/skills to install the skills.
  3. 3Open your AI agent (Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor) in that same folder.
  4. 4Describe your task to the agent — for example, create a video, set up layout, or render it.
  5. 5Check the result: the agent should use the matching skill (remotion-create, remotion-markup, remotion-render, etc.) instead of guessing.
  6. 6When updating Remotion, use the remotion-upgrade skill to update both the package and the skills.
