One agent persona, pushed into every coding AI you use

Agent-purge copies one coding agent's system prompt — the hidden instruction that shapes its character — into every other coding agent you use, with a single command.

The tool takes the file holding your AI agent's personality and installs it into other agents on your machine — Claude Code, Codex, and a few lesser-known ones.

When it helps

Useful once you run two or more coding agents and want them to share one personality. If you only use one agent, you don't need it.

Pros

  • Updates the persona across every agent at once, no manual copying
  • Any change can be undone with a single command
  • Persona data stays only on your own machine
  • The author openly shows where the swap works imperfectly

Cons

  • A couple of closed desktop clients can't be touched at all
  • On some agents, the old system prompt isn't fully cleared

How to set it up — step by step

  1. 1Open Claude Code or Codex in your project folder.
  2. 2Send the agent the text from the block below to install agent-purge and migrate your current instruction.
  3. 3Or install it yourself with npm i -g agent-purge (needs Node.js 20+).
  4. 4Check the list of found agents and the system prompt size before and after the swap.
  5. 5If you don't like the result, turn the swap off with one command and restore the original.

Text for your agent

Copy this and send it to your agent — Claude Code, Codex, any of them:

Set up the agent-purge console from https://github.com/ZiChuanLan/agent-purge, carry my current Claude Code persona over into the other coding agents I use, and show me the list of agents it found on this machine along with the system prompt size before and after.

Runs on a regular laptop, no GPU needed — you'll need Node.js 20 or newer and the coding agents themselves (Claude Code, Codex and others) already installed on your machine, since agent-purge only swaps their system prompt, it does not replace them.
