Acer has announced two new desktops for the fast-growing local AI market. The star of the show is the SFF RTX Spark, a small form factor desktop PC featuring NVIDIA’s superchip combination of a Grace CPU (up to 20 cores) and a Blackwell GPU (up to 6,144 cores) alongside up to 128GB of unified memory. According to Acer, this device can achieve up to a petaflop of AI performance, making it capable of running large language models and other agents locally instead of relying on the cloud.

The other device is the Veriton RI110 AI Mini Workstation, a more traditional small form factor PC powered by an Intel Core Ultra X7 358H processor alongside an Intel Arc B390 GPU. This device features integration with Microsoft Copilot+ and aims to facilitate the use of third-party AI agents within enterprises. The Veriton RI110 AI Mini Workstation will be available in North America during the fourth quarter of 2026. Both products are priced TBD.

Why local AI hardware is picking up speed

When people hear “petaflop,” they used to think of a rack full of servers. Packing that much computing power into a small desktop represents a significant change. Tools for developing powerful AI agents are migrating from data centers to developer machines. For developers working with AI, local inference provides a way to avoid token fees, network delays, and data egress, which can be critical for low-latency or privacy-sensitive applications. Only time will tell if Acer’s prices will make these devices competitive with cloud options, but the trend is undeniable.
