The $750B AI Infrastructure Bet: Productivity Needs to Increase by 2.7x Until 2030.

Hyperscalers spend ~$750B on AI datacenters in 2026. That increases to $1.1 trillion in 2027 and over four years it could be more than $5 trillion. However, AI generates ~$150–200B of annual revenue, 90% of executives have seen no productivity gains over the last three years and according to MIT Technology Review, we need to improve productivity by 2.7x to make it worthwhile by 2030.

Agent ROI isn’t high enough to support this level of investment. 90% of executives haven’t seen any benefit, making this a future vision rather than present reality. While infra costs are falling quicker than anticipated, ‘where’s the money?’ remains unanswered.
