Mandiant Founder Raises $255M for Hacker Agent Swarms
Kevin Mandia, the founder of Mandiant, has raised $255.5 million for Armadin, a startup that tests company defenses using swarms of autonomous agents.
Kevin Mandia, the founder of Mandiant, has launched a new company called Armadin. It just raised $255.5 million at a valuation above $2.5 billion. Andreessen Horowitz and Accel are leading the round. Armadin has now raised more than $445 million in total since it was founded. Its technology is a continuous security-testing service. It relies on swarms of agents that act on their own. They find vulnerabilities and chain them into attacks.
What's interesting here is not the funding amount. It's that using agent swarms to simulate attacks is turning into its own category, not a one-off experiment. In Claude Code, I pay attention to how many agents are working on a task at the same time. One agent working through tasks in sequence is one thing. A swarm hunting for a whole series of vulnerabilities is another. The gap between them feels like the gap between a manual check and an automated scan. For now this is still an enterprise product. You won't be able to install it and run it after work.
