Developer Has Claude Clean Up His Old TV

Developer Mert Jobanov gave the Claude AI agent full access to a four-year-old Android TV without root privileges and asked it to clean up the system. The agent disabled unused apps, shortened animation durations, and logged every step it took. Instead of the standard Google TV screen, it installed FLauncher, a free open-source launcher. According to the author, the TV now runs faster than when it was new.

I work with Claude in Claude Code every day, and an agent at this level can be trusted with routine system cleanup, as long as the task is stated precisely and a change log is kept for rollback. I have had cases, specifically with vague tasks, where the result looked correct but actually was not, and you cannot tell right away. So I would not hand over access to system settings without a backup. The risk of breaking future updates, or falling victim to a prompt injection like the one the author warns about, is quite real.
