Fable 5 Struggles at Launch: The Corporate AI Spending Ceiling
Fable 5 captured just 6% of Anthropic's token volume in its first month and generated 25% less revenue than the far cheaper GPT-5.6 Sol, according to corporate spending data from Ramp.
Fable 5 — Anthropic's most powerful model — captured just 6% of all tokens purchased from the company in its first month and generated 25% less revenue than the significantly cheaper GPT-5.6 Sol. The figures come from Ramp, a platform that tracks corporate AI spending.
Why Companies Aren't Paying Up
Fable 5 is priced at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens — roughly twice what competitors charge. Ramp analysts say businesses simply don't see enough of a productivity gain to justify the higher cost. The top 1% of companies already spends $7,400 per employee per month on AI — a ceiling that even this group has hit.
Market Saturation
Anthropic's share of corporate customers is growing at just 1.1%, while OpenAI's is up only 0.23%. Overall, 43.5% of companies are paying Anthropic and 39.7% are paying OpenAI. Power users are increasingly turning to open models: the race for raw capability has stopped automatically translating into enterprise revenue.
