Anthropic extends Fable 5 until July 19th. A pricing war?
Until July 19th, 2026, Anthropic will offer Claude Fable 5 for free (up to 50% of your weekly quota). This is due to the price wars, where GPT-5.6 Sol is now part of the default ChatGPT experience.
Anthropic announced they would delay the transition of Claude Fable 5 to credits until today, when it should have happened. Instead, they’re offering free access to Claude Fable 5 (up to 50% of your weekly quota) to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users.
With GPT-5.6 Sol being part of the default ChatGPT experience, and GLM 5.2 and Grok 4.5 taking over the low end of the market, AI models are becoming increasingly accessible. This is changing the way we think about monetization.
