I used to spend hours searching for 3D assets to drop into my projects. While my agent can code in Three.js, she mostly has to resort to making fake 3D geometry since finding any usable 3D models or textures is a challenge. One time, I wasted an entire afternoon trying to find a good CC0 chair in GLB format. I had to visit 5 websites with terrible UI for searching. There’s plenty of free 3D content, but it’s spread across hundreds of websites, without a centralized index.

This repository by Devanshu Tak contains links to over 3,400 3D resources. But the real magic happens on his website — 3d.devanshutak.xyz, where all the resources are indexed and sortable. You can filter based on license (e.g., CC0 = fully free, no credit needed), platform/engine, and use case.

The most relevant part for vibe coders is the free model libraries (33 sources). Some notable ones include Poly Haven, the old Google Poly archive (Poly Pizza), and Quaternius’s low poly libraries. Poly Haven has some great CC0 assets available in both Blender and GLB format without needing an account. There are 11 free sources for HDRIs (including Poly Haven’s HDRI library, which includes maps up to 16K). Lastly, there are 43 sources for game assets (sprites, tiles, 3D game ready models).

Sketchfab is included in the list too, which is a freemium service with a giant library of downloadable assets. The catalog is extensive enough to include professional apps like Apple’s Final Cut Pro & iMovie, Microsoft’s Clipchamp (included with Windows), and ByteDance’s CapCut. There’s also a bunch of open source tools from Meta like FBX2GLTF and AudioCraft. These are probably irrelevant for vibe coders, but shows that the catalog is well maintained and up to date.
