Free Gopher SVG Vector Images: 100+ CC0 Public Domain Designs

After a few rounds of iteration on your landing page, you realize everything looks good — the colors, the structure, etc. But it feels too generic, and it’s lacking some personality. It lacks a character. Not a stock photo, not an abstract shape in the hero section, but a proper character, with personality.

I faced this issue multiple times: while there are decent mascot illustration packs out there, they often have restrictive licenses, or they’re expensive, or their characters look like they were designed in 2009. These characters are different. A professional illustrator and graphic designer Maria Letta decided to release her whole gopher character pack under the public domain license. Meaning you can use them in absolutely anything, commercially or noncommercially, without attribution.

These gophers are the official mascots for the Go programming language, but they’ve gained popularity among programmers from other languages as well — they’re cute and expressive characters that can be used in any tech-related context. The repo consists of three subfolders: /characters/ — 78 unique poses of gophers sitting, running, coding, drinking coffee, being confused or excited, /goroutines/ — scenes with multiple gophers, and /illustrations/ — lifestyle scenes. All characters are provided in SVG and PNG formats with transparent backgrounds, which means you can use them as-is in both dark and light UI designs.

1How to add a character to your project

For most cases, the easiest way would be to send you the repo link to the GitHub repository of the Free Gophers Pack by MariaLetta and ask your agent to find a suitable pose and use it for the onboarding screen as a mascot. If you wish to select a pose on your own, check out the /preview/ folder — there’s a grid preview of all characters, each character is labeled, so you can quickly pick one.
