Free Stock Images: 30+ Curated Sites with No Attribution Required

Awesome Images is a GitHub collection of over 30 free stock image websites like StockSnap, Splitshire, Pexels, Unsplash etc. They’re all Public Domain/CC0 licensed. Give this to your agent and they’ll know where to get images for your landing page / app.

It always frustrates me when I ask my agent to place some images and it comes back with some made up url or licensed image that will come back to haunt me. This isn’t the agents fault, it’s because they didn’t have a good source list of free images to work from.

Awesome Images is a collection of free stock image websites on GitHub. It has ~30+ sources including Unsplash, Pexels, StockSnap, Splitshire, PicJumbo, Lifeofpix etc. Most of these are CC0 so you don’t need to worry about attributing/creating an account/headaches. Some (such as Pixabay) have custom licenses that restrict certain types of commercial use but those are noted in the list.

I like how this list doesn’t include any AI generated image websites. All images are human created photography and illustrations which is important if you don’t want your website to look like a content farm.

How to use this list with your agent

  1. 1Open the GitHub page and skim the list — note which sites say CC0 (most of them)
  2. 2Pick a source that fits your project type: travel photos → lifeofpix.com, food → foodiesfeed.com, general → stocksnap.io
  3. 3Tell your agent the site name and what you need — it'll find and embed the image directly
What to tell your agent (hero image, no attribution)
Add a hero image to the landing page. Use stocksnap.io or splitshire.com — they're CC0, no attribution required. Find something that fits [your topic] and insert it as the full-width background.
What to tell your agent (food or lifestyle blog)
I need 3 photos for the card grid section. Use foodiesfeed.com for food images — free, no license issues. Pull from there and place them in the cards.
✓What you get

A curated list of 30+ free stock photo sources — many CC0, with no attribution and no registration required. Travel, food, people, tech, vintage, NASA imagery — most categories are covered. Give the list to your agent once and never fight over broken photo links again.
