OpenAI purchases Glass Imaging, an AI startup specializing in improving mobile phone images. The team behind it includes ex-Apple employees who created Portrait Mode.
OpenAI buys Glass Imaging, a startup that uses AI to enhance smartphone photos, for $300M. The founders of Glass Imaging were former Apple employees who helped develop Portrait Mode. Glass Imaging had raised approximately $30M prior to this acquisition.
OpenAI is building their own devices such as phones and earbuds. It looks like they’re trying to have complete control over the device, down to the camera lens and language model.
