OpenAI Doubles Pro Plan Limits Ahead of Anthropic's IPO

OpenAI doubled the limits on its Pro 100, Pro 500, and Pro 200 plans as Anthropic prepares for an IPO and the two companies fight over enterprise customers.

It looks like OpenAI is doing some marketing ahead of an IPO. The company doubled the quotas on its Pro 100 and Pro 500 plans, both for regular use and for work with Codex. It also doubled the minimum quota on the Pro 200 plan and scrapped a planned cut after user complaints. This is happening right as Anthropic, the maker of Claude, prepares for its own IPO. Both companies are courting enterprise customers aggressively.

Here is the catch. Raising quotas is much easier than making the models themselves better. Doubling the quota on a flagship plan sounds impressive. But it means little if you still cannot beat Opus or Fable, Anthropic's top coding models, in a contest where AI agents write the code. For anyone building on top of AI agents, the number that actually matters is the success rate. That is the chance a given model solves a given task on the first try.
