Gmail Live: Gemini Voice Search for Your Inbox Hits Beta
Gmail Live has entered beta: Gemini searches your inbox by voice, no typing required. Available to select Android and iOS users, with expansion to Google AI Pro, Ultra, and Workspace coming in summer 2026.
Google has opened the Gmail Live beta: you can now search your inbox by voice through Gemini — a dedicated full-screen interface with a microphone. Say "where are my travel dates" or "what's going on with my order" and the AI digs through your mailbox on its own, without a single tap in the search bar. The feature is currently available to select Android and iOS users.
In summer 2026, Gmail Live will expand to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, then roll out to enterprise Google Workspace. A similar Live voice mode is also coming to Google Docs and Keep — Gmail is the first of the three to reach beta.
Email was the last mass-market productivity tool that worked exactly the same way it did in the '90s. A voice agent inside your inbox is a signal: the routine of searching through messages is disappearing, and the interface is turning into a conversation with your personal database.
