In June 2026, Google patched 1,072 vulnerabilities across two Chrome versions — more than the combined total across all 23 releases over the previous two years. Gemini models did all of it: they automatically scan code for holes and immediately patch them.

LLMs are changing the economics of cybersecurity — what used to take years now fits into a single release. Microsoft logged its own record: 570 fixes in July 2026, also with the help of AI. Apple, which hasn't rolled out AI-based code auditing at scale, shows no such leap — and the gap between companies with AI and those without in code security will only keep growing.
