Breadcrumb: a Mac app that remembers your day for AI

Breadcrumb records your screen and meetings locally on a Mac, then feeds that context to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or opencode so you stop re-explaining your day.

Software startup Innerloop has launched Breadcrumb, a Mac desktop application that captures your screen activity and meeting audio (for now just Zoom, but Google Meet & Microsoft Teams “soon”). This context is then converted into a context file that can be used by AI assistants (like Claude, Anthropic’s assistant, ChatGPT, OpenAI’s assistant, Cursor, the AI powered code editor, or opencode, the open source AI coding tool).

This is done using “scopes”. Scopes are folders that have their own set of rules, which are automatically applied when you start working inside them. You can specify certain apps/websites/keywords to ignore. They claim that incognito mode tabs will never be captured.

They claim that all data remains local on your Mac, and is encrypted using your own encryption key. They send a daily check for updates to their server, but no other data is sent. This applies only to Breadcrumb, though. When this context is passed to Claude/ChatGPT, it’s governed by Anthropic/OpenAI’s privacy policy, just like if you manually entered this text yourself.

This way, your agent can be up to speed with what you did earlier that day without needing a summary. Of course, we don’t know how effective this screen recording app is at isolating the collected context (it’s impossible to verify this externally), since the code is proprietary, so take their word for it.

Breadcrumb is free for personal use, without needing an account/email/credit card. They also offer a $299 “founding seat”, which is limited to 1,024 seats. This gets you early access + a discounted price on a future paid plan, but it’s optional. You need a Mac with Apple Silicon, 16GB RAM, and macOS 15+.
