IBM just dropped their Granite 4.2 models (3B/8B/30B param): Agentic, with tool use, code generation & web search. Licensed under the Apache 2.0 License. IBM’s Granite 4.2 model family is available on Hugging Face and Ollama. These are agentic models trained with agentic RL, so they can call tools, generate and run code, and search the web to complete tasks. They have a 512,000 token context window and a “thinking” vs “no thinking” toggle for balancing speed and depth.
Having an open agentic model with an enterprise-level license from IBM is something special.
