Manus Raises Over $500 Million After Meta Deal Falls Through
Manus raised over $500 million after a deal with Meta fell apart. The platform builds websites and presentations from a description, and its revenue tops $100 million a year.
Manus is a Chinese AI startup. It raised over $500 million in its first funding round after a planned $2 billion acquisition by Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, fell through. Boyu Capital and IDG Capital, two venture funds, led the round. Tencent, the large Chinese tech company, and HSG, a venture fund formerly known as Sequoia China, also took part. Back in December, while the Meta deal was still on, Manus already had annual revenue above $100 million.
Manus builds AI agents that turn a plain description into a finished website, presentation, or design. That is the same kind of work Claude Code, Anthropic's coding tool, does every day. A startup with $100 million in annual revenue pulling in a round this size tells you something: investors now value agents as a business on their own, apart from whatever model runs underneath. The notes do not say which model powers Manus, and that is exactly the question to ask before relying on a tool like this for real work.
