Kimi Slides: How AI Builds a Presentation From a Topic
Kimi Slides is a feature in Moonshot AI's Kimi assistant: give it a topic or a document, and it writes the slide text and design itself, delivering a finished file in 5 to 10 minutes.
Kimi Slides is a feature inside Kimi, the assistant from the Chinese company Moonshot AI. It runs on the K3 model, the same one that powers chat and search in Kimi. You open the page at kimi.com/slides, enter a topic or attach a file, and get a finished presentation a few minutes later.
What Can Kimi Slides Do?
Kimi accepts a one-line topic, or a file: text, PDF, Word, PPTX, Excel, or an image. From there the service finds material on the topic itself, using Kimi's search and long-context capabilities, and writes the slide content. It handles the design too. Colors, fonts, icons, and chart style are all chosen automatically. You can preview the finished presentation, edit it online, and download it as an editable file.
What Creation Modes Are Available?
Kimi Slides has two modes. Smart Layout works out its own layout and style. It suits presentations with data and images, takes 5 to 10 minutes, and supports uploading your own PPTX template. It comes with ready-made scenarios: academic research, business analysis, marketing. Classic Templates pulls from a template library and assembles slides against them in 3 to 5 minutes. It is faster and works well for text-heavy content where a predictable look matters.
How Do You Start Using Kimi Slides?
Steps
- 1Open kimi.com/slides and type in a topic as a single line, or upload a document (text, PDF, Word, PPTX, Excel) or an image.
- 2Pick a mode: Smart Layout for a personalized design with data, or Classic Templates for a fast result built from ready-made templates.
- 3Review the draft in the preview and edit it online if needed.
- 4Download the presentation as an editable file.
The service's own page warns that the content is AI-generated and needs to be checked before use. Users get a set amount of free generation credits each month, though the page does not list the exact limit or pricing for paid tiers.
For a draft of an internal report or a presentation for your team, this genuinely removes the grunt work. You do not have to put slides together by hand, pick fonts, or lay out text on a template, the service just does it straight from the topic. For a pitch where exact brand style matters, a specific logo, exact brand colors, an approved template, I would still go through the finished slides by hand. Automatic design solves the general layout problem. It does not reproduce someone else's brand guidelines, and those are two different things.
You can try it at https://www.kimi.com/slides, where you will also find a help page describing the Smart Layout and Classic Templates modes.
