LinkedIn Experiments With ‘Looks Like AI Slop’ Button
LinkedIn has started testing a “this looks like AI vomit” button that penalizes posts and limits their distribution. They’re also taking down their own “rewrite with AI” and “improve” buttons, leaving just a basic spell checker.
LinkedIn is experimenting with a “this looks like AI vomit” button. When you flag a post, it gets demoted in search rankings and the author receives a notification about the post appearing to be fake. It’s also removing its “rewrite with AI” and “improve” buttons while retaining basic spell checking functionality (that won’t affect the tone of your writing).
They have many good reasons for doing so. Over 40% of long form posts on LinkedIn are generated by AI and they remove billions of auto-generated posts per month. Users crave authenticity and large social media platforms are starting to incorporate content quality signals into their algorithms.
