Nvidia May Backstop Nscale's Debt for Anthropic Data Center

Nvidia is in talks to provide credit guarantees for Nscale, a young cloud provider building a 460-megawatt data center for Anthropic, the AI company behind the Claude models. The project is valued at $45 billion. The deal has not been signed yet, and the terms could still change.

This is the kind of infrastructure that later shows up in Claude's token pricing and usage limits. The more confidently Nvidia backs deals like this, the less likely sudden compute shortages become on the provider side. But $45 billion in guarantees behind a young provider is also a risk. If the data center misses its deadline, or if demand for AI agent workloads drops, someone other than Nvidia will end up paying for it.
