Nine workers at Nvidia and Super Micro Computer have been charged with violating US export regulations by sending AI servers to China since 2022.
Nine employees of Nvidia and Super Micro Computer have been charged by Taiwanese authorities with violating US export regulations by shipping artificial intelligence (AI) servers to China. They allegedly did so via grey markets using transit hubs such as Thailand and Malaysia. All the accused knew about the stringent export compliance processes in both firms.
Individuals are being held accountable for breaking AI hardware export rules instead of corporations paying fines. This means delivering chips via grey markets could result in jail sentences.
