The Chinese robot Tiangong Ultra completed the 100-meter distance in 9.39 seconds, outpacing Usain Bolt’s 9.58 seconds world record set 17 years ago. Within a year, humanoids have doubled their speed. The World Humanoid Robot Games were held in Beijing from August 22 to 26, 2026. The runner-up was Honor’s Lightning with a time of 9.47 seconds. Last year, the same robot took 21.5 seconds to run the same distance.
Over the past year, robots have become twice as fast. Their physical advantages over humans came sooner than many thought. This is only about sports. Reliability and marketability are still lacking.
