Amazon is taking all of Twitch’s video & audio content and using it to build generative AI models, without any choice for creators. It is on by default and requires a hidden switch in your settings to turn it off. The CPO was refreshingly honest about the move: “If it required consent, no one would give it. Honestly, that’s the answer.”
The playbook has now been copied by yet another tech giant. After Twitter, Reddit, and Meta, Amazon is now attempting to use creators’ content in generative AI models.
Just as with Twitter, Reddit, and Meta, Amazon is also scraping data from its creators. In Amazon’s case, this means using all of Twitch’s video & audio content to build generative AI models, with no opt-out except for a hidden switch in settings.
